Meet Tiffany McQuaid

Tiffany McQuaid is Undisruptable

“We all do our best, but I know that when your heart and intentions are in the right place and you can put your head on that pillow at night knowing you’ve done the best that you can do, that’s reputation.“

Tiffany McQuaid is an expert at knowing how to spot and fill voids. She watches her local market and plugs in where there are community gaps where her team can help. This takes the form of concerts, hurricane preparation, and genuine customer care. Giving as much as she does requires that she stay centered and focused.

“You stay in alignment with your true self and whatever that means for you. If that means just a quiet little walk in a peaceful place or wherever you can stay grounded, stay within your core and stay in alignment, then the noise will make you undisruptable.”

Being an independent broker/owner gives Tiffany the freedom to create the brand and the business she could not find elsewhere. She’s able to showcase her event planning skills and her creativity in a way that serves her community and loves her people well. Leading with genuine heart and soul is what makes Tiffany undisruptable.

Tiffany McQuaid: Tiffany McQuaid, President of McQuaid and Company in Naples, Florida.

Molly McKinley: Perfect. All right, so what does it mean to be undisruptable for you? What does that mean?

Tiffany McQuaid: I know it’s a weird word. Undisruptable to me means different, unique. It means stand out. It means going over and above. It means filling voids. It means doing things that no one else has really thought of when an opportunity strikes you, but it also means being complete standout, complete standout.

Molly McKinley: I love that. So do you have a story or a moment that’s coming to mind of how where you felt like, like you were going way above and beyond sort of the behind the scenes stories of what you actually do and what the people think you do that you can share.

Tiffany McQuaid: Yes. Well, so selling homes, I mean that’s just kind of the little bonus part of what we all do in the real estate industry. But the part that makes you undisruptable is the part that comes from here. Part that comes truly from the heart. Where you’re giving back, not just to the community, we correlate as a company. My team all bonds together and we put together some of the largest events in our area. And it’s an opportunity for us to truly give back to the community that we love. You know, all of my team volunteers to do it. And it gives everyone an opportunity to come and be happy and enjoy great moments and walk away feeling good. So that’s something that we do. But also when we were affected and hit by hurricane Irma, whenever a hurricane threatens to come through our area, my entire team steps up.We go to every property that we have listed because a lot of people don’t live in our area year-round. So we pull all the outdoor furniture in, we make sure that everything’s good and taken care of. Shutters are put down, whatever needs to be done to not only protect in preparation for a hurricane but also post hurricane. And when Irma came, there were so many, so many heartwarming stories that we just, without even really thinking about it, I mean I can remember wading through so much water just to get back to a driveway to check on someone whose family hadn’t heard from them in three days because she lost signal, she couldn’t get out of her driveway and the family reached out to me through social media, saw me offering to check on people. And that family has still stayed in touch since then. It’s not somebody that we had their property listed, but it gave us a moment that kind of put a feel good in the air about not only myself but the company as a whole. And that’s what we’re about.

Molly McKinley: Brilliant story. What is, what does your reputation mean for you? How important is that?

Tiffany McQuaid: Reputation is absolutely key, and I find it very difficult to even think that someone would think otherwise. So from an undisruptable perspective, I think reputation is what we all strive towards. We all strive to be our best selves 10 years from now. What do you see when, as years evolve, how do you want to see yourself to be thought of? How do you want people to accept you or visualize you? But more importantly, how do you want to project yourself? And I think reputation is really what we’re constantly striving for. Nobody’s perfect. We all do our best, but I know that when your heart and intentions are in the right place and you can put your head on that pillow at night knowing you’ve done the best that you can do, that’s reputation.

Molly McKinley: Great. What would you tell someone right now who’s feeling unsure or overwhelmed by all the noise and talk of disruption and what would you want to say to someone like that?

Tiffany McQuaid: Well, I’d be talking to myself right now talking about noise. You know, that to me has always been probably the greatest challenge in growing my brokerage because you have internal noise, a variety of realtors that have challenges or issues or things that can pull you away from your core focus as well as things that you hear out on the streets, other companies doing this, that or the other. The main thing to me when it comes to that is that you stay in alignment. You stay in alignment with your true self and whatever that means for you. If that means just a quiet little walk in a peaceful place or wherever you can stay grounded, stay within your core and stay in alignment, then the noise will make you undisruptable.

Molly McKinley: That’s awesome. Any final words of wisdom that you want to share because the interview is over, so this is your chance. If there’s something that you would just want to say, your moment, anything around just this whole moment that we’re in as an industry.

Tiffany McQuaid: In the industry right now, I feel like there’s been so much fear. Fear put in place, fear of just so much fear. And in my 18 years in the industry, this is the first time in these last few years that I’ve sensed or felt it. Is it because I’m more intertwined in it or is it because it’s factually there? And I’m not one to succumb to scare tactics. Probably the best thing that I’ve learned in my life is when you fall down to get back up right away and to use fear as your guide. When you hit that point of fear, that’s when you keep going and you trudge through and you plow forward. I use fear as my barometer to know that I’m on the right path and right now I believe that we are on the right path as undisruptable brokerages or individuals or realtors. We are on the right path right now to greatness because all these people have come out with all these unique technology and bigger brokerages and VC money and all of these things that someone like myself doesn’t have. And this to me is a prime opportunity for us to go in and figure out, okay, it’s pretty clear to me what voids need to be filled. So let’s take these voids and let’s figure out how to provide value and be undisruptable.
