Meet Nina Dosanjh

Nina Dosanjh is Undisruptable

“Being undisruptable is really about being adaptable. I think that change is inevitable and the more we embrace change, the less likely we are to be disrupted.”

Nina Dosanjh fully understands the importance of serving her people well and the potential impact home ownership can have on her client’s lives. She doesn’t take this for granted because she remembers her grandfather and how hard he worked as an immigrant to achieve this goal. She’s far more than just relationship driven, she knows she’s in the business of trust.

“I had a manager when I first started in real estate, and he told me two things. He said, “You’ve got two things in this business, your time and your reputation.” And I think for me, reputation really means trust. It’s about building that trust with people in the industry, with your clients. I think that that, for me, is really what reputation stands for. It’s all about trust.”

Nina’s passion and purpose for real estate is palpable. She’s transitioned her value into numerous leadership roles throughout the industry and has become a sought after speaker, expert, and leader. She cares deeply about the client experience, and the importance of staying focused when everything around her may be chaotic. This is what makes her undisruptable.

Nina Dosanjh: My name’s Nina Dosanjh and I’m the Director of Strategic Alliances and Technology for Vanguard Properties in San Francisco.

Molly McKinley: Awesome. So tell me what it means to be undisruptable for you.

Nina Dosanjhj: I think for me, being undisruptable is really about being adaptable. I think that change is inevitable and the more we embrace change, the less likely we are to be disruptable.

Molly McKinley : And what are some of the things that you’re doing to embrace change?

Nina Dosanjh: Wow, that’s a tough question. I think for a brokerage to really adapt is to educate the agents. I think that there’s a lot of noise out there, and the more that we pay attention to the noise, the less likely we are to be fully prepared for what we really want to do, and that is connect with our client.

Molly McKinley: That’s awesome. Okay. That’s really great. And talk to me about the importance of your reputation.

Nina Dosanjh: The importance of reputation. I had a manager when I first started in real estate, and he told me two things. He said, “You’ve got two things in this business, your time and your reputation.” And I think for me, reputation really means trust. It’s about building that trust with people in the industry, with your clients. I think that that, for me, is really what reputation stands for. It’s all about trust.

Molly McKinley: That’s awesome. Is there a story that you could share about a moment where you felt undisruptable? Or is there a moment that kind of comes to your mind?

Nina Dosanjh: For me, I’m a granddaughter of an immigrant grandfather who came to this country with $7 in his pocket. So for me, when I see what he did to build a home and a family for generations, for me, I always go back to that moment of what it might’ve been like for him to have gotten to that point, to purchase a home. And so, that story resonates with me. And when I see families get keys to the property that they are going to live in and build memories in, it takes me back to that moment of how hard it must’ve been to get to that point. So for me, it really is a passion of the experience and connecting with people, because … that’s my grandfather.

Molly McKinley :That was beautiful. If you are speaking to someone who’s really worried about being relevant, what would you speak into them about where we are right now, and all the disruption?

Nina Dosanjh: I think what I would say is that … let’s not pay attention to all the noise. I think that, really, when you get to the core of why you’re doing what you’re doing and you connect with that, really, is the most important thing. So what I would say is to not pay attention to the noise and to really dig deep and understand why you’re doing what you’re doing and what your core beliefs are. And I think when you stay committed to that, it’s hard to fail.

Molly McKinley: That was beautiful. Any words of wisdom? Because we’re done with the questions now. So any parting words or anything that you want to say?

Nina Dosanjh: Woman up?

Nina Dosanjh: I think diversity is important in our industry, and I think we all need to start paying more attention to what it means for other people who are immigrants in this country and come here. Realtors who … are able to build a life, basically, it’s the last profession, really, where you could do that. And the abilities and options are limitless. That’s what I would say.

Molly McKinley: That’s awesome.
