Watch the interview from CMLS 2019 Conference in Orlando
The arrival of RateMyAgent is an amazing opportunity to control your online reputation and spread your reach across the internet, with verified reviews linked to specific transactions.
At the recent Council of Multiple Listing Services conference in Orlando Florida, RateMyAgent CEO Mark Armstrong sat down with Saul Klein (self-described internet evangelist, long-time industry advocate and Executive Editor of Realty Times) to discuss how the platform works, and how it can supercharge your online profile.
Watch the interview above, and refer back to these key takeaways for a quick refresher.
We launched RateMyAgent in Australia about four years ago. More than 88% of all Australian real estate agents now use our platform. RateMyAgent receives reviews for one in three properties sold across Australia.
Since we launched RateMyAgent in the US, we have added 1.4 million agents’ profiles to the platform. More than 13,000 agents across the country have claimed (activated) their profiles. Agent reviews have been received in all but 3 states in the US.
“Agents often fear client feedback because they’re concerned about losing control of where the feedback is coming from.
With a lot of websites, you don’t know where the reviews are coming from or who’s posting them.”
Giving agents a ‘safe harbour’
Agents often fear client feedback because they’re concerned about losing control of where the feedback is coming from. With a lot of websites, you don’t know where the reviews are coming from or who’s posting them.
RateMyAgent is different. It gives agents a ‘safe harbour’ for client feedback. The only way you can get a review on RateMyAgent is to request it through our platform. All you have to do is:
1. Claim your profile (it’s free!)
2. Find the property you sold or purchased for the client.
3. Confirm the sale price.
4. Send an email through the RateMyAgent platform, asking your client to write a review.
Double the benefits:
Requesting reviews through RateMyAgent provides two huge pluses. First, you know exactly who is posting a review. If it is a positive review, you can thank your client for their endorsement. In the unlikely event that it’s a negative review, you can discuss it with your client and find out how you can improve your service.
Second – and a unique benefit of using RateMyAgent – every review is connected to a specific property transaction. With other websites, all your reviews are text-based. You can’t see which properties they relate to.
What’s more, all your reviews are on a single page, so that your ‘digital footprint’ (reach) is limited to one webpage.
By contrast, if you get 10 reviews on RateMyAgent, each one creates its own webpage – that’s 10 pieces of information instead of one. They’re easier for Google to find, and easier for clients to find. This substantially boosts your digital footprint.
Then, if you share your reviews through social media like Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter, one review can potentially turn into hundreds of thousands of pages on the internet.
What if I’m a new agent and don’t have many reviews?
Even if you lack experience, you can use RateMyAgent and reap the rewards. As a new agent, you can gain experience by working as part of a team, learning how to transact for buyers and for sellers – and as you gain more experience, you’ll receive more client feedback.
This may take time – it usually takes 18 months to 2 years to farm your market – but as you gain more experience and client feedback, you can start using ratemyagent.com to build your review base, and then use your reviews to promote yourself.
Your online reputation is in your hands! Claim your profile and start requesting reviews today!
